Janet L. McFarland is currently a Principal Attorney at Mental Hygiene Legal Service, Appellate Division, Second Department. She previously was an Assistant District Attorney at Bronx District Attorney’s Office. She graduated from Brooklyn Law School in May 2000. She is 2nd Vice President on the Board of the Staten Island Woman’s Bar Association. She is also a Member of the Richmond County Bar Association, Staten Island Trial Lawyers Association, and Columbian Lawyers of Brooklyn, as well as serves on the Red Mass Committee of Staten Island and volunteer as an arbitrator in small claims court in Staten Island and Brooklyn. Ms. McFarland is a board member of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Kings County. She currently is President-Elect for the Soroptomists International of Staten Island and a Director on the Board of Community Health Action. She also chairs CHASI’s Valentine Dinner Dance and is currently the Chair of the Soroptomists first mentoring program for girls. Janet is also a member of Richmond County Kiwanis and on the advisory board of Mr. Bones and Co. Animal Rescue. In her spare time she is involved in community theater and has been in several plays on Staten Island. She is a proud fur-mommy to her pitbulls, Justice and Independence as well as a proud aunt to Henry and Tia.
